Codger Etress, 77, of Shelby died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005. He was born Feb. 6, 1928, in Shelby.

He was retired from CSX Railroad and was a member of Bay Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Bristow Etress; his son, Mike Etress; his brothers, Laston and Buddy Etress; and his sisters, Inez Davis and Odell Tidmore.

He is survived by his children, Terry Etress, Alexis (David) Willingham and Cindy (David) Tuten; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Blonnie (Jack) Johnston and Helen Baker; a sister-in-law, Robbie Etress Burks; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. at Bay Springs Cemetery, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing
