Kingwood Christian’s Hannah Phillips scored her 2,000th point Saturday, scoring 20 points in the Lions’ 68-31 win over Taylor Road to give her 2,002 points in her varsity career.

&8220;Hannah is a tremendous ballplayer,&8221; Kingwood head coach Jerry Stearns said. &8220;She sets the tempo for our game and is a true leader this year.&8221;

The Lady Lions are 6-0 with Phillips at the helm. She has averaged 23.8 points, five steals and five assists per game for Kingwood.

Stearns said Phillips has stepped up this year as a leader of a young squad.

&8220;She has a big role on the team this year because we are so young,&8221; he said. &8220;Hannah has helped us bring the younger players along.&8221;

Phillips scored all of her points in the first half of Saturday’s record-breaking game.
