Velma P. McCoy

Velma P. McCoy, 94, of Calera died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pelham, where she had been a faithful worker for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was retired from Yeilding’s Department Store in Vestavia. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Finis L. McCoy.
She is survived by a son, Richard T. (Lorene) McCoy of Alabaster; a daughter, Betty (Charles) Garrett of Calera; four grandchildren, Charlene Garrett, Clifton (Ritcha) Garrett, Terry Garrett and Brandon (Heather) McCoy; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Service was Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Jefferson Memorial Gardens South.
The family expresses appreciation to New Beacon Hospice and asks that donations be made to the hospice or to the First United Methodist Church of Pelham.
