UM men win over No. 20 UAH

HUNTSVILLE &8212; After nearly 40 minutes, it came down to two free-throws.
Two free-throws by Marcus Kennedy with 1.3 seconds remaining allowed No. 2 University of Montevallo to pull away from No. 20 University of Alabama at Huntsville, 59-55, in a Gulf South Conference men&8217;s basketball game at Spragins Hall on the UAH campus Monday night.
Leading 57-55 with 16 seconds remaining, UAH (1-1 GSC, 12-2) had an opportunity to set up for the tying, or go-ahead score. A three-point attempt by Graham Aderholt bounced off the rim and was collected by Kennedy who was fouled. After a timeout, Kennedy sank both free-throws for the final margin. Kennedy posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line, all in the second half.
Greg Brown also scored 16 points and had five assists, with two three-point baskets.
James Hall finished in double figures with 15 points. Darron Robinson added seven points and 11 rebounds.
Jason Smith led UAH with 20 points and was 11-of-13 from the three-point line. Smith scored 13 points in the first half but was held without a field goal in the second half.
UM (2-0 GSC, 14-1) will host the University of West Georgia for a Gulf South Conference game Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. The game is scheduled to be broadcast on UM Internet Radio
