Recruiting Special: The Class of 2006

Sixteen Shelby County football players make their decisions official today by signing with the schools where they plan to play college football.
The county&8217;s recruiting class is full of talented players, including Briarwood&8217;s Andy Davis (Alabama) and Spain Park&8217;s Neal Caudle (Auburn).

on the recruits&8217; senior seasons and what their coaches had to say about their high school football careers.
JUSTIN COFER – Thompson
UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA-BIRMINGHAM
Position: Tight end
Senior stats: Finished with 14 catches for 143 yards and one touchdown his senior season.
Coach&8217;s comments: &8220;He worked hard his junior year and really started growing. That carried over to this year and he caught a lot of peoples&8217; attention.&8221; – Brian Maner
DEVIN ONARHEIM – Thompson
UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS
Position: Tight end
Senior stats: Finished with 35 catches fro 489 yards and six touchdowns in his final year.
Coach&8217;s comments: &8220;He did a really good job all the way through his career here. He&8217;s definitely getting what he deserves.&8221; – Brian Maner
RYAN SHOEMAKER – Oak Mountain
AUBURN UNIVERSITY
Position: Kicker, punter
Senior stats: Shoemaker went 12-of-18 in field goals with a long of 48 yards and 38-of-39 in extra points. He averaged 39.59 yards per punt.
Coach&8217;s comments: &8220;He has great potential to be a good field goal kicker and punter. He will be a solid player for Auburn.&8221; – Jerry Hood

Position: Offensive line
Senior stats: Unavailable
Coach&8217;s comments: &8220;Mark turned into an outstanding leader for us. He has really improved his technique and will make for a very good SEC offensive lineman.&8221; – Jerry Hood
ANDY DAVIS – Briarwood

Senior stats: Davis finished with 112 solo tackles, three interceptions and one safety.

Senior stats: Finished with 126 carries for 533 yards and three touchdowns. Also caught 13 passes for 143 yards.

BRIAN FULGHAM – Montevallo

Senior stats: Finished 2006 with 114 total tackles and notched six games with more than ten solo tackles.
