FUSB to open in Columbiana

First United Security Bank soon will open at a new location in Columbiana.

The bank has been in Shelby County since 1998 serving the areas of Calera and Harpersville.

Employees of the new location will occupy the former Regions Bank office on West College Street.

Edwin Brasher has been

named vice president and branch manager of the Columbiana office.

A native of Shelby and a seasoned banker, Brasher recently joined FUSB from First National Bank of Shelby County where he had served as vice president and branch manager as well as other positions since 1976.

&8220;We are very excited about opening a new bank office in Columbiana,&8221; bank president and chief executive officer Terry Phillips said.

&8220;Edwin will certainly be an asset to our bank, and we look forward to serving both new and existing customers in the Columbiana location soon.

&8220;We appreciate the warm welcome we have received from the business and community leaders in Columbiana.&8221;

Among other accomplishments, Brasher serves as president of the Rotary Club of Columbiana.

He is also an assistant scoutmaster in Boy Scout Troop No. 560.

Married to wife, Gail, they have three children who all reside in Columbiana. He and his family are long-standing members of the First Baptist Church of Columbiana.

Brasher was educated at

Shelby County High School and received an associate degree of finance and business administration from George C. Wallace Community College.

&8220;I am very excited about being with this bank as well as the opportunity to serve the people of my community,&8221; Brasher said.

&8220;We&8217;ll be opening the new branch in Columbiana as soon as we possibly can.&8221;

The new Columbiana office is slated to open next month.
