Jags advance in Area 6 boys play, Warriors eliminated

Spain Park head coach Brian Moon was able to use his entire bench Tuesday night, as the Jaguars easily defeated the Pelham Panthers 59-19.

&uot;I thought we played pretty good,&uot; Moon said. &uot;I feel like we can turn to just about anybody on our team.&uot;

The Jags’ William Green netted a team-high 12 points and finished with five blocks and four rebounds in the win. Green finished 6-of-7 from the field.

Spain Park now prepares to face the Vestavia Hills Rebels on Friday night in the Class 6A, Area 6 semifinals.

&uot;We beat them both times we played them this year,&uot; Moon said. &uot;But they’re playing really good right now so we might have been fortunate to hit them at the right time.&uot;

Mountain Brook 68, Thompson 52: The Thompson Warriors’ season came to an end Tuesday night as they fell to the Mountain Brook Spartans in the first round of the Class 6A, Area 6 tournament at Oak Mountain, 68-52.

Sideeq Cooper led the way for the Warriors in the loss, netting 15 points while teammate Rusty Bunn finished with 12 points.
