Softball results: PHS continues winning ways

Don&8217;t let their youth deceive you.

Fourteen softball teams have face the Pelham Lady Panthers this season &8212; 13 of them have underestimated PHS&8217;s firepower.

Pelham has won 13 of its 14 games this season, including victories over Prattville, Hewitt-Trussville and Pleasant Grove last weekend in the Mountain Brook Border Wars tournament.

The Lady Panthers defeated Prattville 3-2, Hewitt-Trussville 4-1 and Pleasant Grove 8-4.

Sophomore Christin Crocker currently leads the team with a batting ERA of .633. She&8217;s had 19 hits in 30 tries with 23 RBI&8217;s and 12 stolen bases.

Sophomores Trish Zettler and Nicole Cornett have done their part on the mound for the Lady Panthers, including a 23-strikeout performance by Zettler in 13 innings of work against Pell City last week. The two pitchers have amassed 40 strikeouts over their last six games.

Spain Park 5, Shades Valley 4: The Spain Park Lady Jaguars used a two-run home run by Kristen Davis in the bottom of the fourth inning Monday to defeat Shades Valley 5-4. Spain Park pitcher Lindsey Ehlman struck out six batters

while teammate Ashley Akers had a pair of doubles for the Lady Jags.

Jefferson Christian 7, Cornerstone Christian 1: The Cornerstone Christian Lady Chargers could only muster one hit as they fell to Jefferson Christian 7-1 on Monday.

Parkway Christian 11, Vincent 1: The Vincent Lady Yellow Jackets had nine players strike out as they could only muster one run against 2-0 Parkway Christian, losing 11-1.

Clay-Chalkville 6, Thompson 3: The Thompson Lady Warriors fell to Clay-Chalkville on Thursday by a score of 6-3.

Leeds 9, Chelsea 6: Leeds defeated Chelsea 9-6 Thursday. The Hornets gave up five runs in the third
