We need men who can dream of things that never were./i

– John F. Kennedy (1917 – 1963)

Debra Horton, music specialist at Elvin Hill Elementary school, knows how to dream. The parents, teachers and students of Elvin Hill Elementary also know how to dream. And by the way, the students really know how to sing.

Students from the school make up what is now known as the Elvin Hill Music Company; the company was formed and is lead by Horton.

Thanks to Horton&8217;s initiative and faith in the students, the music company has been invited to perform at Walt Disney World this Friday as part of Disney&8217;s Magic Music Days; quite an honor and a first for Shelby County elementary students.

Imagine performing with all your heart in a place filled with castles and colorful characters.

If your imagination will take you there, you can appreciate the pride that must be filling Elvin Hill Elementary and the hearts of the parents and teachers; you can also begin to grasp the overwhelming excitement these students are experiencing.

With countless hours of practice behind them, colorful new uniforms on their backs and the love and support of countless folks back home, members of the Elvin Hill Music Company will leave for Walt Disney World this Thursday.

Members of the company will even have special pins and certificates of appreciation from State of Alabama Governor Bob Riley to take with them on the trip; Carol Hill, on behalf of herself, her husband Representative Mike Hill and Governor Riley, presented same to the students this past Friday as part of the music company&8217;s final practice.

Anyone who has made a trip to Walt Disney World knows that doing so does not come cheaply.

To that end, donations are still being accepted to help defray some of the costs of the trip; if you would like to help, please contact Elvin Hill Elementary school at (205) 682-6620.

They will appreciate any help you care to offer.

Here&8217;s wishing the entire music company, parents, teachers and staff of the school best wishes on this momentous trip
