Calera chief earns certificate

Calera Police Chief Tommy Palmer has earned his certificate in police management after completing the first 40 hours of the Law Enforcement Executive program at Jacksonville State University.
The program, consisting of specialized, executive-level training is jointly administered by the JSU Partnership and the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police.
&8220;This is a mark of success for Chief Palmer as well as for the city of Calera for its support of the advancement of law enforcement management principles,&8221; said Ann Wells, director of continuing education at JSU.
The 40-hour certificate was awarded at the Association of Chiefs of Police Conference in Montgomery during February.
Courses included in the program are: managing for effectiveness, dealing effectively with the external environment, effective management and supervisory techniques for the police executive, strategic planning for your department and generational differences and assessments
