Davis, Melichar to play in Mobile football classic

Briarwood safety Andy Davis and Oak Mountain lineman Mark Melichar will join 35 of Alabama&8217;s best high school football players on June 3 in Mobile at the 19th annual Alabama-Mississippi Football Classic.

Davis, a 6-foot, 200-pound senior, finished his final year as a Lion with 112 solo tackles, three interceptions and a safety.

He has signed to play at the University of Alabama next season.

At 6 feet, 5 inches and 276 pounds, the Eagles&8217; Melichar anchored Oak Mountain&8217;s offensive line throughout his senior year.

He has signed to play for Mississippi State University next season.

Representatives from the AHSAA Directors & Coaches Association, the Alabama High School Athletic Association, each of the eight AHSAA Athletic Districts and the All-Star Classic games committee selected the players.
