As part of continued training for its fire fighters, the Brierfield Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department recently held a &8220;live fire&8221; training exercise. Joining the Brierfield team were members of the Montevallo and Lawley Fire Departments.

Training included ladder usage, ventilation, both vertical and positive pressure, drafting procedures and pump operations.

Each firefighter was also able to study fire behavior and interior attack methods under realistic conditions.

Certified instructors from the Montevallo Fire Department were on site to oversee the exercises.

&8220;We hold regular training sessions each week. Most are in the classroom style and others include apparatus and equipment training, but nothing compares to actually using that training in a controlled situation, &8220;said Brierfield Deputy Chief Spruce McRee
