James E. &8220;Pete&8221; Stephenson, 53, of Brent, Ala., died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Bibb Medical Center.

He was a devoted father, grandfather and a loving husband. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard T. Stephenson.

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Stephenson of Birmingham; his wife, Sue Stephenson of Brent, Ala.; his son, James Stephenson of Brent, Ala.; four daughters, Shannon (Sam) Estes of Shelby, Charlotte (Scott) Fowler of Wilsonville, Lisa (Robert) Staley of Centreville, Ala., and Jessica Stephenson of Brent, Ala.; three brothers, Howard T. Stephenson Jr. and Curtis Stephenson, both of Birmingham, and Terry Stephenson of Blount County; seven sisters, Katrina Bigby, Patricia Oates, Reda Campbell, Geneva Morris and Jerrie &8220;Dixie&8221; Jones, all of Birmingham, Priscilla Piazza of Alexander City and Terrie Bailey of Thorsby; 12 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Service was May 2 at 11 a.m. at Randolph Baptist Church, the Rev. Reuben Compere and Rodger Hamaker presiding. Burial followed in Randolph Cemetery, Rockco&8217;s Funeral Home in Centreville directing.

Pallbearers were Sam Estes, Scott Fowler, David Nicolei, Robert Staley, Joseph Morris, Brandon Morris and Kendall Morris
