The No. 11 ranked University of Montevallo Falcons received a bid Sunday to play in their first-ever South Central Regional Tournament.
UM will be the No. 3 seed in the six-team, double-elimination tournament that begins tomorrow in Abilene, Texas.
UM (37-16) will meet fellow Gulf South Conference member and No. 4 seed University of West Alabama (41-20) in an opening round game, tomorrow night at 8 p.m.
The Falcons and Tigers faced off four times during the regular season, with UM winning three games.
The tournament, which concludes Sunday, will be played at Crutcher Scott Field, on the campus of host Abilene Christian University. Montevallo is one of 48 teams playing for the NCAA Division II national championship.
The bid announcement follows news Friday that five Falcons were named to the First Team-All Gulf South Conference: juniors Daniel Tankersley (first base), Travis Fultz (third base), J.D. Pruitt (outfield), senior starting pitcher Rusty Mask and sophomore relief pitcher Zach Andrews
