SPECIAL TO THE REPORTER

The Heart of Dixie HOG chapter No. 1590 joined the residents of Waterford to donate blood at the LifeSouth Community Blood Center&8217;s blood drive in this fast growing subdivision in west Calera on Saturday, April 29.

The club, from the Heart of Dixie Harley-Davidson dealership in Pelham, enjoyed a ride through Oak Mountain State Park, Columbiana and around Waterford before ending up at the blood drive at the Waterford clubhouse and pool.

After donating, the HOG enjoyed dining at the blood drive&8217;s supporters: The Fish House Restaurant, The Yoe Wok Caf/ and Golden Rule BBQ at the I-65 exit 231 south of Birmingham.

The ride was organized by HOG Road Captain Rusty Ezekiel and his wife, Wanda.

The Waterford Homeowners Association welcomed the bikers&8217; impromptu parade through their streets and their contribution to the blood drive.

LifeSouth is a not-for-profit organization whose role is to provide the link between willing donors and patients in local hospitals who require blood to survive.
