A Target, Best Buy, J.C. Penny, T.J. Max and Pet Smart are all coming to Alabaster.
They are among the businesses that will be located in Alabaster&8217;s second newest shopping center, Colonial Promenade South.
Cam Ward, executive director of the Alabaster Industrial Development Board, said Colonial Properties Trust announced the businesses last Friday.
He also said the company is also involved in negotiations with hotels and national chain restaurants.
Ward said all of the businesses announced are expected to open in the summer of 2007. And he said of the second new shopping center, located across U.S. 31 from Colonial Promenade, &8220;I think it really establishes this entire area of Shelby County as a shopping destination.
Ward said Colonial Promenade is generating about $5.5 to $6 million per year in tax revenues for the city. He said Colonial Promenade South would add another $5.5 million for about $11 million per year in tax revenues for Alabaster.
That the shopping centers are all being built within a three-year period, said Ward, marks &8220;the fastest growing retail area in the Birmingham area.&8221;
According to Ward Colonial Promenade includes 685,000 square feet of retail shopping space and Colonial Promenade South will add another 425,000 square feet of retail space
