Jeff State offering nursing program

Jefferson State Community College will implement a new Licensed Practical Nursing Program beginning this fall semester. Students completing the three-semester program will be awarded a certificate and will be eligible to sit for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensure Exam to become a licensed practical nurse.

&8220;The program will serve students by providing another avenue for the development of career skills and will also provide educational mobility for students who wish to pursue a registered nursing career,&8221; said Jefferson State Nursing Advisor James Buxton. &8220;The program will also serve the community by providing much needed health care providers.&8221;

In addition to classroom presentation of theory, students will rotate through various health care facilities. The program will place emphasis on basic skills needed to care for clients.
