Reporter realigns newsroom

Several changes have recently been made in the Shelby County Reporter newsroom.

Former Shelby County Reporter sports editor Brandon Gresham has been named news editor. Gresham is a 2005 graduate of Samford University and has been with the Shelby County Reporter since May 2005.

Former Reporter staff writer Fred Guarino has been named sports editor. Guarino attended the University of Montevallo before graduating from the University of Alabama. Guarino brings nearly three decades of newspaper experience to his new job of covering sports in Shelby County.

The Shelby County Reporter also welcomes two new staff writers in Meredith Donnelly and Justin Averette.

Donnelly is a 2006 graduate of Samford University, while Averette is a 2006 graduate of the University of Montevallo. &8220;These changes prepare the newsroom to better serve our growing county in the years to come,&8221; Shelby County Reporter editor and publisher Tim Prince said. &8220;We are excited to welcome Meredith and Justin to the newspaper and are proud for the new opportunities Fred and Brandon will have to serve our readers and our community.&8221;
