Helen Jean Paterson McBrayer

Mrs. Helen Jean Paterson McBrayer of Hoover died on July 13, 2006.

She was born in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of Dr. Alexander Horn Paterson and Mrs. Carolyn Haas Paterson. She graduated from the University of Maryland and the Maryland Institute of Art. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity, Gamma Psi Chapter. She was also a member of American Society of Interior Designers and ran her own company &8220;Skip McBrayer Interiors&8221; in Atlanta, Ga. Survivors are her husband B. GEN. James D. McBrayer, Jr. USMC (Ret.), two sons, James D. McBrayer III Steamboat Springs, Co., John A. McBrayer, Pelham, Ala., a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Susan Woodruff, two grandsons, Daniel Stuart and Timothy Richard. Three sisters survive: Mrs. Bess Louise Shipe, Potomac, Md.; Mrs. Bertha Ann Harris, Easton, Md., Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Chappell, Charleston, S.C. and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2006 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Ala. The family received visitors one hour prior to the service. Her remains were inurned in the Columbarium U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md. Ridouts Southern Heritage directing.
