Lillie Louise Hughes Scott

Lillie Louise Hughes Scott, age 73, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 8, 2006 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She had retired from Scott Gold Company in Pelham for which she served as a bookkeeper.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Jo Scott Sides of Pelham and her brother John T. Hughes of Shelby, Ala. and parents John D. and Edna Mae Hughes of Shelby, Ala.

She was a homemaker for many years and loved to quilt, collect Beanie babies, garden and was known as the best cook in town.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, C.W. (PeeWee) Scott formerly of Calera. She is also survived by her three daughters, Sharon Scott Chapman of Hoover, Barbara Scott Brantley (Tim) of Pelham, Nancy Scott Fricke of Wilsonville and two sons, Eugene Scott (Karen) of Indian Springs, Steve Scott (Teresa) of Pelham. Her sisters are Elizabeth (Sissy) Sherrer (Shorty), Betty Jean Roberson (Bud) and Mary Anderson, all of Sylacauga, Ala.

She was loved by eleven grandchildren who affectionately knew her as &8220;Mimi&8221;. The grandchildren are Kenny Sides (Terra), Scott, Casey and Julie Chapman, Erica Neel (Preston), Bethany Scott, Kyle Fricke, Justin and Brianna Scott, Bodee and Christy Brantley, and Great-grandchildren Kalee and Heather Sides. They thank God for giving them so many wonderful years with her.

We would also like to give our thanks to SouthernCare Hospice for their loving care to our family member during her time of need.

Visitation was held on Monday, July 10h at Charter Funeral Home in Calera, Ala. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 11 at 11 a.m. at Charter Funeral Home in Calera with Rev. Rick Ousley officiating. Burial followed at Shelby Memory Garden in Calera, Ala. Arrangements were under the direction of Charter Funeral Home in Calera, Alabama.
