James E. &8220;Jimmy&8221; Lucas, age 59, of Jemison, died Aug. 20, 2006.

He was an active member of Calera Elks Lodge No. 2703 over 15 years; served as Chairman of the Trustees for many years and member of Painters Union Local No. 57 for 40 years.

Funeral services were held Aug. 23, at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Montevallo. Burial was in Enon Cemetery, Montevallo. The Rev. Joe Burcham and the Rev. Greg Thurman officiated. Rockco Funeral Home, Montevallo directed. A vacant-chair ceremony will be held at the Calera Elks Lodge this week.

Mr. Lucas was preceded in death by parents, Ennis and Gladys Luca; brothers, Sonny Lucas and Little Buddy; and sisters, Frances Reynolds and Toby Hager.

Survivors include, wife, Becky Lucas of Jemison; daughter, Gina Lucas of Maylene; sons, Steve (Gayla) Lucas of Montevallo and Jason Lucas of Alabaster; stepsons, Jonathan Gaines and Chris Gaines, both of Jemison; sisters, Geraldine (Bobby) Gerber and Dianne (Bob) Rutz and brother, Jackie (Debbie) Lucas, all of Montevallo; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Honorary pallbearers included Elks Scott Anderson, Carl Davis, Don Garrett, W. C. Hoggie and Martis Warren. Pallbearers were Dennis Davis, Ennis Hager, Paul Burcham, Kevin Lucas, Grizzly Allen and Harrell Broadhead.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the &8220;Jimmy Lucas Memorial Fund&8221; or the &8220;Battens Disease Research Fund&8221; may be mailed to Calera Elks Lodge No. 2703, P.O. Box 1098, Calera, Ala. 36040.
