A football jamboree hosted by Oak Mountain Friday night against Gadsden City and the Thompson Warriors proved a mixed bag of results for Oak Mountain head football coach Jerry Hood.

His team defeated Gadsden City 3-0, but fell to the Thompson Warriors 8-0.

Hood said his team took the opening kickoff against Gadsden City and marched 62 yards on 12 plays leading to a field goal. He said that was a &8220;well executed&8221; drive.

He also said he thought his team&8217;s defense played well.

But against Thompson, it was another story.

Hood said there was a snap over the head by Oak Mountain and a long touchdown run by the Warriors.

But Hood said he got a chance to look at other players in the jamboree and he said he was well pleased with the effort. However, he wasn&8217;t pleased with the bad snap or touchdown. But he said, &8220;That&8217;s the reason you play jamborees.

Hood praised his offensive line including D.J. Looney, Brendan West, Austin Sockwell, and Michael Hester.

Thompson also played Gadsden City, but fell 6-0.

Warriors head football coach Brian Maner said, &8220;I thought our young men played hard. We&8217;ve got some things we&8217;ve got to correct before our opening game.&8221;
