Oak Mountain suffers Minor setback, 29-15

The 6A Oak Mountain Eagles (1-3, 1-2) fell to region opponent Minor at home last Friday night.
&8220;They out-played us&8221; and &8220;had a good scheme against us,&8221; said Oak Mountain head football coach Jerry Hood.
The Eagles were hanging
in with Minor in a scoreless first quarter. But Minor stunned the Eagles with 75-yard touchdown run early and a 64-yard touchdown run late.
&8220;They hit us with two big plays that hurt,&8221; said Hood.
Minor led 14-0 before Mark Caldwell connected on a 39-yard field goal for the Eagles to make it a 14-3 score at the half.
The Eagles swapped scores with Minor in the third quarter to make it a 20-9 contest. Michael Nordyke scored on a 29-yard pass from quarterback Richie Fordham. But a 27-yard field goal and a 64-yard run by Minor put this contest out of reach.
Michael Connell completed scoring for the Eagles on a 13-yard pass from Drew McKnight.
Fordham completed three of 14 passes for one touchdown for the Eagles and
carried 15 times for 86 yards.
McKnight also completed three of five attempts for a touchdown for Oak Mountain.
The Eagles host Paul Bryant in a non-region match this Friday
