Volleyball summary: Eagles dominate Marbury, prepare for Shelby County

The undefeated Calera Eagles took care of business last Friday night downing region opponent Marbury 40-13.
Three Marbury turnovers turned into three Calera touchdowns and proved the difference in this game.
The first turnover of the night cane when the Eagles recovered a muffed punt deep in Marbury territory. Two plays later, Dominique Wilson scored his first of five touchdowns on the night.
Marbury had chances to draw closer, but high snaps to the shotgun killed good drives. They fumbled the ball four times in the third quarter alone and lost 63 yards.
The Eagles held Marbury to 219 yards total offense on their way to victory.
Dominique Wilson scored five of Calera&8217;s six touchdowns, gaining 98 yards on 13 carries along the way.
The Eagles struck for 119 yards on the ground and 147 through the air for 266 yards total offense.
Also getting in the scoring act was senior free safety Nick Ellison, who returned a Marbury fumble 16 yards for a touchdown.
Defensive leaders for the Eagles were Wendell DeMoss, Matt Brasher and Ellison who all had 6.5 tackles each.
The 3A Eagles (4-0, 3-0) will host cross county rivals, the 5A Shelby County Wildcats (3-1,2-1) this coming Friday night
