Donald Thomas Portis was born in Alabama on June 13, 1957, and passed away at his residence on Monday, Aug. 28, 2006 at the age of 49.

He was a resident of Columbiana. He was employed with Citation Foam Steel Company for fourteen years. He was a loving son, brother, great father and a good friend that was always helping others.

Survivors of Mr. Portis include his parents, George Thomas and Addie Lee Portis of Columbiana; step-daughters, Keitra, Ingrid and Gretchen Kidd of Shelby; sister, Carla Portis of Birmingham; brothers, Darren, Steve, Stan all of Columbiana and David Portis of Shelby; aunts, Betty Lee of Shelby; and Gertrude Parker of Patterson, La.; and his former wife and good friend, Bonnie Kidd of Shelby. Also, Mr. Portis was survived by a host of nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.
