The Vincent Fire Department will use $83,000 from the Department of Homeland Security for safety upgrades.
U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (R-AL), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, recently announced the $82,826 grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program.
&8220;It is essential that Alabama&8217;s first responders have the tools and training necessary to safely protect our communities,&8221; said Senator Shelby.
&8220;The Vincent Fire Department will use this funding for operations and safety.
This grant is evidence of our nation&8217;s continued commitment to our first responders.&8221;
The funds were awarded by the Department of Homeland Security&8217;s Office for Domestic Preparedness, as part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which has distributed $750 million in direct federal assistance to firefighters nationwide this year
