Panthers will beat Warriors in Alabaster

This Friday&8217;s football action includes a couple of very big rivalries among many important region games.
Looks like I dropped the old crystal ball on my toe last week, going 8-5 with my predictions, for 67-27 total and a dip in the old accuracy rating from about 73 percent to 71 percent … ouch!
As to those rivalry games … we&8217;ve got the Pelham Panthers going on the road to play the Thompson Warriors,
and the Calera Eagles traveling to play the Montevallo Bulldogs.
Adding a little spice to these already intense rivalries is the fact that they are both region games. In fact, every match up this week is a region game except for Cornerstone Christian School and Meadowview Christian School, which is a 1A versus 2A, AISA match up.
Pelham and Thompson are both 6A Region 5 teams while Calera and Montevallo are both 3A Region 3 teams.
-While this was a very tough call to make, the Game of the Week has to be those Pelham Panthers and Thompson Warriors.
Pelham (6-1, 5-0) is coming off a 32-20 road win over region foe Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa. Thompson (6-1, 4-1) is coming off a 35-17 home win over regional opponent Northridge.
I think the Panthers have a little too much firepower for the Warriors.
Game of the week prediction: Pelham 35, Thompson 21.
-5A Briarwood Christian School (6-1, 5-0) is coming off a 42-20 home win in region play against Sylacauga and will travel to play region foe Moody, which lost to Chelsea 30-27.

-3A Calera (6-1, 4-1) is coming from a 32-21 home defeat at the hands of Montgomery Academy and will travel to play region foe Montevallo (5-2, 3-2) who just defeated Beulah at home in
region play, 26-21.
Prediction: Calera 35, Montevallo 21.
-5A Chelsea (6-1, 5-0) is coming off a 30-27 home win over regional opponent Moody and will travel to play region foe Sylacauga, which lost to Briarwood 42-20.

-2A, AISA Kingwood Christian School (6-2, 4-1) is coming off a 46-34 region loss at Lowndes Academy and will travel to play a region match with Evangel Christian Academy, which lost to Meadowview Christian School 34-14.
