Vincent &8220;Vic&8221; Vella, age 62, of Homewood, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2006.

Mr. Vella was retired from the Birmingham Fire Department. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Reserves. He was presently employed by Georgia Crown Distributing. He was a member of Raleigh Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Vella was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ann Vella.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandra Vella; sons, Joey (Jessica) Vella and Jamey (Traci) Vella; daughter, Christina (Ryan) Haney; grandchildren, Jake, Reed, Caroline and Caleb; and sister, Christina Kemp.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 23, 2006 at 11 a.m. in Ridout&8217;s Elmwood Chapel with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Daniel Wilson officiated. Visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
