Crenshaw ends Coosa Valleys season

Football 2006 is over for the Coosa Valley Academy Rebels.
The 1A, AISA Region 1 team fell to non-region Crenshaw Christian Academy 25-7 at home to end the year 3-7 over all and 3-5 in region play last Friday night.
&8220;We didn&8217;t play well at all,&8221; said first head football coach Steven Mackin of his Rebels&8217; last outing of the season.
He said his Rebels opened with a score and went south from there.
But Mackin said that he told his kids at the beginning this would be a building year.
He said one of the biggest problems the Rebels faced was their weakness. He said he is going to start an off-season workout program to get the players into the weight room.
The Rebels did play more competitive ball this season winning three region games. Last season the Rebels won one contest.
In their last outing of the year Chase Ward had 14 carries for 56 yards, Steven Clinkscales had nine carries for 49 yards and Chase Lacy had 116 kickoff return yards.
Brandon Batchelor had three catches for 32 yards and Whit Lovelady competed five of 10 passes for 44 yards and two interceptions.
Defensively Ward had nine tackles, Clinkscales had 6 tackles and Cullem Guthrie had five tackles.
Brian Hurst had one interception
