Graveside service for Earnest T. Smith, age 90, of Wilsonville, were at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 13, 2006 at Bolton-Letlow Chapel.

Mr. Smith, who passed away on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006 at an Alexander City hospital, was born on June 4, 1916 in Shelby County. He retired from U.S. Steel in 1975 after 38 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Orpha Smith.

He is survived by his son, Edward (Cindy) Smith of Rockford; a daughter Jane (Ted) Harper of Chelsea; two stepsons, John (Marion) Fox of Houston, Miss. and Lee Fox of Tuscon, Ariz.; his sister, Estella Simmons; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
