The road to the 2A state championship came to an end for the (6-5) Vincent Yellow Jackets last Friday night.

Despite a game in which coach Dwight Spradley said his Yellow Jackets offensive line blocked as well as they did all year, and his team played as well as they could play, Vincent fell to West Morgan 29-14.

Spradley said the momentum changed after the score was knotted at 14-14 but West Morgan held the Yellow Jackets on a fourth down play.

The Yellow Jackets managed 142 yards on the ground and 192 yards through the air for 334 yards total offense.

Despite the lopsided score ,West Morgan amassed a lower 299 yards total offense.

Scoring for the Jackets were Octavius Looney and Justin Peterson.

Spradley said the Yellow Jackets lose five seniors off the 2006 team and will return 20 of 25 players next season.

He said with the success of the football program this year, Vincent may be able to get more youngsters to try out for the team next football season
