Flu shots to be given in Chelsea

After a delay of more than a month, flu vaccinations will be given at Chelsea City Hall on Monday, Nov. 27 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The cost for the shot is $5 per person. There will be no on site charge for Medicare or Medicaid recipients.

Chelsea city officials invite anyone to come by and be vaccinated against the flu virus. Pneumonia virus inoculations will also be available under the same price and guidelines.

The shots were supposed to be available in October; however, a delay at the Alabama Department of Health pushed the date back until Monday.

Yet, county health officials say November and even a December vaccination can be effective against the virus since Alabama&8217;s worst flu outbreaks tend to occur in late-January and into February.
