Vincent hosts Thanksgiving tourney

The (1-2) Vincent Yellow Jackets came up short in their effort to take third place in the Vincent Thanksgiving Tournament.

Vincent fell to Wetumpka 64-59.

Octavious Looney led the Yellow Jackets with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Also pacing the team was Cameron Posey with 16 points and five rebounds. Justin Peterson added 10 points and three rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets trailed by eight in the first quarter and by three at the half 28-25.

They closed the gap to two points 39-37 at the end of three periods and tied the contest at 50 points each in the fourth quarter.

But overtime went against the Yellow Jackets, as Wetumpka pulled away for the 5-point win.

The Yellow Jackets hit for 32 percent, 19 of 40 field goals, went 0-12 from 3-point range and made 21 of 31 free throws.

Through three games Looney leads all Yellow Jackets with 54 points and an average of 18.0 points per game. He also leads the team in rebounds with 32 for an average of 10.7 boards per game.

On the first night of the tournament, Wetumpka defeated Sylacauga 74-57; Walker County defeated Catholic 73-57; Dallas County defeated Tarrant 82-68; and Vincent defeated B.B. Comer 60-43.

Looney led the Yellow Jackets against Comer with 15 points, and Posey followed with 13.

Friday night, Catholic beat Sylacauga 64-57; Tarrant beat B.B. Comer 70-30; Walker defeated Wetumpka 78-67; and Dallas County defeated Vincent 73-53.

Dallas County 73, Vincent 53:

Looney led the Yellow Jackets again against Dallas County with 21 points.

Saturday Sylacauga beat Comer 82-38. In the consolation championship Catholic took down Tarrant 70-67.

Dallas County defeated Walker 64-43 for the tournament title.

Spain Park 58, Vestavia Hills 40:

The Jaguars (3-1) were led by Jake Drum and Jay Prater with 12 points each. Cameron Terry had 10 points and nine rebounds and Josh Magette had nine points.

Homewood 55, Spain Park 48:

William Green led the Jaguars with 14 points and five rebounds while Cameron Terry added 13 points and four rebounds.

Fairfield 46, Shelby County 45:

Richard Sutton scored 12 points and pulled down six rebounds for the Wildcats.

Shelby County 50, Pelham 41:

Josh Dikis led Shelby County with 21 points and Richard Sutton added nine.

Rodney Billings led Pelham with nine points.

Tuscaloosa County 55, Pelham 38:

Rodney Billings led Pelham (0-3) with 14 points.
