J. D. Hughes, 93, died Monday, Jan. 8 in Alabaster. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Robert Mahaffey presiding at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo. Mr. Hughes was buried at Ryans Cemetery in Maylene. He is survived by his wife, Mary Loraine Hughes; daughter, Dot Lovejoy, sons; Normal L. Hughes and Truman W. Hughes; brother, Howard Hughes; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his son, Pete G. Hughes
