Jefferson Dowell Falkner, Jr. of Columbiana died on Jan. 10. Jeff was born on April 8, 1944.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bama Baldwin, Curtis Jefferson Falkner, Ella Partridge and Thurman Edward Juzan. He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Janice McCormick Falkner; sons, Jefferson (Donna) Dowell III, Jason Bryan, and Jon (Julie) Juzan Falkner; parents, J.D. (Buck) and Lorene Falkner; brother, Terry (Gayle) Juzan Falkner; grandchildren, James David Falkner, Matthew and Brent Holsomback; nieces, Rebecca and Katie Falkner, Mandy and Quincy Gibson; nephews, Zack Falkner and Jody McCormick; father-in-law, Joseph Patrick McCormick, Sr. Jeff was a graduate of Shelby County High School and a 1966 graduate of the University of Alabama.

He taught and coached at Shelby County High School from 1966-1968.

Jeff was a State Farm Insurance agent for thirty-three years. In 1978, he co-founded Town Creek Apartments and later built Jason&8217;s Marine, Paradise Point Marina and Paradise Point subdivision. He and friend Don Kirby developed Magnolia Parc subdivision in 1995. In 2001, Rick Roundsavall, golf course designer; Mike Box, clubhouse manager; Wade Nielsen, grounds superintendent; assisted Mr. Falkner in fulfilling his dream when Magnolia Meadows Golf Course opened in Columbiana. Mr. Falkner was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbiana and the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. His fraternity affiliation was Lambda Chi Alpha. Jeff was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and brother. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and colleagues. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shelby County High School Academic Fund, 101 Washington Street, Columbiana, Al, 35051. A memorial service was held on Friday, Jan. 12, at First Baptist Church of Columbiana at 1 p.m. Visitation preceded the service at 12 p.m. Pall bearers were Rodney Ross, Evan K.
