Funeral service for Ray Smith, age 71, of Shelby, was held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Bolton-Letlow Chapel with Rev. Charles Powell officiating.

Visitation was held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Smith, who passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, at a local hospital, was born on Dec. 28, 1935 in Healdton, Okla.

He is survived by his wife, Martha W. Smith; son, Raymond Charles (Tracy) Smith, Jr.; step-children, Keith Winn (Evelyn) Johnson, Clarence F. (Tina) Johnson, III, Debra (Woody) Patterson, Cathy (Bob Bingham) Jordan; grandchildren, Joshua Alexander Smith, Shelby Johnson, Kendall Johnson, Emily Johnson, Haley Johnson, Amanda Reese, Melinda Reese, Taylor Reese, Jordan Reese and many, many family and friends. In lieu of flowers, his wife requests donations to American Cancer Society in memory of Susie Smith and Terry Smith.
