Residents of Westover are already taking advantage of the new facilities at the town&8217;s new park.

A little over a month from completion, the park is nearly 98 percent finished, according to Mayor Mark McLaughlin said. &8220;We are still about 30 to 60 days away from the official ribbon-cutting, but it is already being used all hours of the day,&8221; McLaughlin said.

The park has a pavilion, restrooms, three fields, two walking trails and a playground. The park sits on approximately five acres behind the town hall.

&8220;This is an exciting thing, I think it has been well-received,&8221; McLaughlin said.

The park is a joint effort between Shelby County and Westover. &8220;The county has been a tremendous help. We are very appreciative to the commission,&8221; McLaughlin said.

To go along with the new park, the town hall is also sprucing things up.

McLaughlin said a new roof, paint job and sidewalks are already in the works, while more improvements are still to come. &8220;The previous council did a great job on the interior. When this council got here, we finished the interior and now have moved to the outside.&8221;

McLaughlin said the biggest expansion is for the library at the town hall. The library currently doubles as a conference room, and the mayor says it is just too small
