Opal Elizabeth Stricklin, 82, of Shelby, died Friday, March 2 at a nursing home. The funeral service was held Sunday, March 4 at 2 p.m. at Bolton-Letlow Chapel.

The Rev. Sam Harton and the Rev. Ricky Ruston presided.

She was buried at Williams Cemetery.

Visitation was Saturday, March 3 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Stricklin was born on October 5, 1924 in Shelby County.

She was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church and retired from the Elastic Corporation. She is survived by her children, Gerald &8220;Joe&8221; (Barbara) Strickland and Janice Stricklin; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; brother, Milton &8220;Buck&8221; Ruston; sister, Virginia Barnette and a host of other family and friends.
