Spain Park boys win Pelham meet

Spain Park collected 131 points to win the Pelham Speed Meet at Heardmont Park Thursday, defeating Homewood (102.5) by winning four individual field events.
Eli Smith captured the high jump with a height of six-feet, while Erick Warren leapt 19-feet and seven inches to win the long jump. William Green won the triple jump with a distance of 40-feet and two and a quarter inches. Trevor Denkers rounded out the individual honors with a javelin throw distance that soared past the rest. Denkers threw 167 feet and seven inches, while Pelham&8217;s Logan Truck was second with 146-feet, 10 inches.
Oak Mountain took third place in the meet with 95 points, followed by Briarwood Christian (73) and Pelham (70.5). Shelby County was ninth with 17 points, while Oak Mountain Classical School had 14 points and finished in 11th.
Oak Mountain captured their third meet for the women, scoring 124 points to Homewood&8217;s 99. Pelham finished third with 72 points, while Spain Park was fifth and Briarwood Christian seventh. Oak Mountain Classical came in ninth, while Shelby County was 11th.
Oak Mountain hosted the Shelby County Invitational Tuesday
