Columbiana residents should not be surprised to hear live rifle fire or see smoke coming from the Sheriff&8217;s compound Saturday, April 7.
The Combat Infantrymen&8217;s Association of Alabama is holding a dive-bombing reenactment from 1:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Jim Chambers, a former colonel in the U.S. Army, said the demonstration is to emphasize patriotism and give people a glimpse back in time.
Included in the bombing will be four Korean War era T6 aircraft. The pilots of the planes will simulate marking their targets, which are replicas of army tanks from the 1950s. The tanks will also then be &8220;blown up&8221; using a pyrotechnics display.
Those who attend the reenactment will also get to view a 1952 army jeep and U.S. Army combat vets on patrol.
The sheriff&8217;s compound is located at 380 McDow Road off of Hwy. 70 West.
