Columbiana City Councilwoman Ouida Mayfield has won a prestigious award from the Alabama Federation of Women&8217;s Clubs.

Mayfield is this year&8217;s recipient of the Louise M. Wilson Outstanding Clubwoman Award. She was nominated by the Columbiana Culture Club of which she is past president.

On the city council since 2000, Mayfield also serves on Columbiana&8217;s library and beautification boards. She was instrumental in organizing the city&8217;s annual Christmas parade.

She is also a past member of the Vignette and Novella clubs and has served in various women&8217;s clubs for more than 47 years.

Mayfield worked four decades in public education, spending her last 17 years as principal of Columbiana Middle School.

She is also active in the Columbiana United Methodist Church, where she teaches Sunday school and coordinates the &8220;Community Bible Study of Columbiana&8221; ministry
