Verna Ruth Alverson, 84, of Westover passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007, at a local care facility.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, May 22 at 1 p.m. at Union United Methodist Church. Brother Billy Coleman presided. She was buried in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Alverson was born on July 28, 1922, in Westover. She was a member of Union UMC. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Alfred F. Alverson.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Bob) McSwain; son, Wade (Barbara) Alverson; daughter, June (Clyde) Burroughs; son, Terry (Melanie) Alverson; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and other family and friends.
