Festine Dickerson Young, 83, of Pelham passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2007.

The funeral service was held Wednesday, May 16 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Ridout&8217;s Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham.

She was buried in Pelham City Cemetery. The Rev. Gene Grater, Don Jeffers and Dr. David Davidson presided.

She was a member of Hickory Hills Church for 20 years and Maylene Church of God for 35 years.

Young was a long-time seamstress in Shelby County and was loved by all who knew her. She always put others first.

Young is survived by her sons, Alton Young Jr. and Warren (Peggy) Young; daughter, Angela Young Purser; grandchildren, Alton Lee Purser, Chelsea Nicole Young and Joe Young; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Young and Cade Young; brother, Howard Dickerson; and sisters, Estell Walton, Norma Callihan, Jimmy Kent and Eva Mooney.
