Funeral services for Patricia Ann Wood, age 60, of Columbiana were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Bolton-Letlow Chapel with the Rev. Archie Maddox and the Rev. Pate Hudgins officiating. Burial followed in Pinelawn Gardens.

Patricia was born in Chilton County on the June 30, 1946 to Simon and Eula Price Carden. Patricia was the sixth of nine children. She died Saturday, June 16, 2007 at a local hospital from complications of ovarian cancer, which she had valiantly fought for more than 11 years. She had lived most of her life in the Columbiana area.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Simon Carden and Eula Price Carden of Columbiana; her husband of 40 years, Billy H. Wood from Gadsden; a sister, Doris Pate; brothers, Horace Carden of Shelby; and Thomas (Tom) Cardin and Troy Carden, both of Columbiana.

Mrs. Wood had been an active member of Summer Hill Church for many years until she was physically no longer able to participate. She has influenced the lives of many in her church family as well as her many special nieces, nephews and friends. She was committed to making life better for each person she met and has been an inspiration of grace and courage to many.

She is survived by her son, Eric Dakota Wood; sisters, Anice (Clifton) Horton, Sandra (Dr. James G.) Alston, Sarah (Jerry) Bentley, and Melba (Larry) Connell, all of Columbiana; and a host of family and friends
