Gladys Perkins, 85, was recently mentioned in Country Woman as part of their celebration of community figures. Perkins, a retired widower of a local pastor, is also grandmother to Harpersville mayor Theoangelo Perkins.

She currently resides in Columbiana where she stays close to her 12 children, 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

The article goes on to mention how Perkins is affectionately known as Granny throughout the community and enjoys gardening and sharing her canned harvest with friends and neighbors
