Curtis Lee Horton, 74, of Jemison died on Monday, Aug. 13, 2007 at his residence. He was born on Sunday, Jan. 22, 1933 in Alabama, the son of the late Arlen Horton and the late Velma Findley Horton. He was a logger.

Surviving are his wife, Olys Nell Horton of Jemison; four daughters, Joyce (Randy) Cox of Alabaster, Jona (Kendall) Bates of Columbiana, Janice (Dale) Groom of Vincent, Lynn Epperson of Calera; son, Royce (Robbie) Horton of Columbiana; three stepdaughters, Linda (Leroy) Arthur of Montgomery, Joyce (George) Clark of Deatsville, Charlotte (Earnest) Grier of Jemison; six brothers, Billy (Sylvia) Horton of Jemison, Jack Horton of Columbiana, Fred Horton of Shelby Co., Leon Horton of Wilsonville, James (Betty) Horton of Shelby, Jimmy (Ann) Horton of Shelby; three sisters, Mamie Carden of Alabaster, Virginia (Bill) Reynolds of Clanton, Martha (Bobby) Massey of Shelby; 25 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlen and Velma, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Friends will be received from 5:30-8 p.m., Wednesday Aug. 15 at Martin Funeral Home.

Services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 16 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Avery officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Mount Cemetery in Jemison
