Tenth-ranked Lynn blanks the Falcons in opener

In Boca Raton, Fla. Thursday, the No. 10 Lynn University Fighting Knights dominated possession with 21 shots in a season opening 2-0 victory over the University of Montevallo Falcons.

UM was held to just four shots in the match, including two shots each by Adam Frazier and Jonathon Mahoney.

Falcons’ goalkeeper Melford James Jr. managed to hold the Fighting Knights scoreless through 75 minutes of play before Lee Porter put the Knights on the board with a penalty kick goal. Nano Short followed minutes later with a goal in the 80th minute assisted by James Heyers.

James collected five saves in net for Montevallo.

The Falcons travel to Tusculum College for a non-conference match Sunday night
