Pat Hughes’ Chocolate Sheet Cake

Pat Hughes says this cake is a big hit with her family.


2 tbs. of cocoa

2 cups plain flour

2 cups sugar

2 eggs

1/2 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup cooking oil

1 cup water

1 tsp. baking soda

1 stick butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients and pour into a large cookie sheet pan. Bake for 20 minutes.

8 tbs. milk

2 tbs. cocoa

1 lb. box confectionary sugar

(ground walnuts optional)

Heat milk and butter, then add sugar and cocoa. Beat until smooth and pour over cake while still warm. Let sit until cool and then cut into squares and enjoy.

Hughes said the cake can serve a large group and is perfect for homecomings or a family reunion. The buttermilk will keep the cake moist and delicious for several days
