John Edward Knight, age 77, a long-time resident of Shelby County, passed away Sept. 17, 2007.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Margie Attaway Knight. He is survived by a son, Lee Knight (Moyra) of Kennesaw, Ga.; two daughters, Diane Russell and Janet Bailey (Mike) of Shelby County; two grandsons, Chris Russell (Linda) and Dennis Russell; three step-grandsons, Len Wittfeld, Austin and Destin Bailey; a great-granddaughter, Lydia Russell; brother-in-law, John Attaway; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

John retired after 30-plus years from IBEW Local 136 as Master Electrician. He was a member of Bold Springs Presbyterian Church. He loved to fish and grow a garden to share with others.

The funeral service was Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, in the chapel of Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. Burial followed in Bold Springs Cemetery
