Prep football stats: Week six

FROM STAFF REPORTS

Matthew Gordon is the man to stop. The senior Briarwood Lion is a triple threat on offense as he moves into first place in AHSAA scoring this week with 52 points.

Gordon leads the undefeated and Class 5A top-ranked Lions in all-purpose yards, as he has returned kickoffs for 273 yards on the season. That is just threat number one. His second threat remains on special teams, where he is 16-of-17 in point-after attempts.

He has contributed with two touchdowns in each of the Lions’ last two games to bring his season total to six.

Statistics leaders for Shelby County football teams will be compiled every Wednesday in print and will run online every Thursday.
